Christopher Columbus

A Man With A Dream

500 years ago, Columbus, through persistence and courage, discovered a new world. He's come back to visit and share his amazement at what he now finds. He gives the audience a greater respect and understanding for America's beginning and their own

Quotes from the Christopher Columbus script,
"Man With A Dream"

"When I sought money for my ships, King John of Portugal said "No", King Charles of France said "No", King Henry of England said "No", King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella of Spain said "No" three times over a period of
5 years, but I was a man with a dream so I persevered. I finally got my ships."

"Was I courageous? If you will accept my definition of courage, that courage is not the absence of fear but the mastery of it; then yes, I was courageous."

The programs are approximately 45 to 60 minutes long; 45 minutes of monologue and 15 minutes for Q&A session. Actually, the program is as long as you want it. Can your program be longer? Mr. Wyrick's standard answer is, "The program is as long as you want it. You have control of the length. That way, no one feels the program was too short or too long.

The question and answer session can be handled in different ways, but the most successful is to have a panel of 4 or 5 audience members who, in a kind of Face the Nation format, question whichever historical character has appeared. Or audience participants with prepared questions can sit in the front row of the audience, or Neil will take questions from anywhere in the audience.

"The makeup (even at close range) and dramatic presentation were superb.
Our audience was highly receptive and attentive."

Prof. Donald H. Stewart, State University of NY - Cortland, NY

"You were a stimulating interlude in an otherwise tedious and sometimes
superficial week."

Robert Evan (former CBS War Correspondent), Televans Productions - Atlanta, GA

"Old Ben was a smash hit, and that's an understatement."
Gary D. Ladner, Program Chairman - Mississippi Power Company
